The disk has a perfect taper to fit the inner part of the seal, the flat is almost exact on the body of the seal and the outer diameter fits into the axle yoke bit wth about a mm clearance. Couple of good taps with the FBH and done. I was happily astonished. Now to make something to tighten the CV boot clamps.....
i bought the proper tool and done 8 ball joints now in 1hr for both sides and new axle seals, got a special driver tool for the seals too, super a easy job not sure why people cheap out on the tool and stuggle

Think I used the 36mm socket to tap the seal in, and it cut it open due to the silly design of the seal, mainly the metal inside it.
Maybe I was too happy with "tapping" it with a hammer to seat the seal, but, live and learn.

Or maybe it just was that it was a allmakes one, the only one I could get in time.
Should use NAK as they wont leak

I have about $15K worth of tools here. I wasn't going to drive for half an hour to buy a tool to do a job I hope never to do again, and thought I'd share that the ball joint tool does a great job on those seals. Not everyone has money to burn.

For now, I'll just leave them be, but will replace it at the time they start leaking, with something else, maybe.
It really is not that big of a job to do.

Haven't driven the D2 much more than to get the new tyres a couple of weeks ago from since I broke my shoulder in October, well needed it this weekend. Battery flat and rear suspension on the ground from then.

My 80amp fuse to the rear had also blown, lucky Altrnoics is just up the road for these pesky flat fuses.

Got my Schrader valves hooked up - after finding they leaked like Russian Spy, barely any teflon tape from the factory - with tee intersections at the air compressors (somehow this simple job had been forgotten) and blew the bags up ready for the weekend, well both airbags were on the ground when went to go. Alright then, reinflate and off we go to Moulmein... Well 100k's out the air suspension put itself down to the bumpstops! Blow up the left hand side and then try the right hand side, no go joe. Luckily I went and looked at the compressor and found one the tee's had blown themselves to pieces, had spares so in they go and no problems blowing the bag back up.

Then the alpine GPS took me on a back road express of dusty washboard roads, with only the last few K's on the blacktop. Next morning the back of the D2 was high and proud. Sunday morning, on the floor again and the battery flatter than the Hay Plans. NRMA and filling the bags, nice trip home only to find today the bags flat and the battery (s) at 9.18V with the BT battery app showing every ten minutes a significant discharge...

It was two trips ago I had a bag deflate on the tracks so had changed one over and suspect the other bag is the culprit but that is the rear of the D2, hopefully this solves the battery and dropping issues. The Nanocom showed me 5 and 4.96 volts at the sensors.

Had thought my rear air system would do the job of pumping both bags together but for some reason it would not work on the airbags so had to use the good ole separate pump

Just thinking ahead for the Disco2 what the MTR's would be replaced with, and I was thinking the MFG MT, but wondered if this tyre was also worth checking out and considering. Thanks again.
First run with the new tyres of note, nowhere near as noisy as I anticipated, sure you could hear a light thrum with the window down but pleasantly surprised. The ride was a fair bit firmer at speed, getting up into NSW where the roads were noticeably less maintained the bumps were felt just a little more. On the dirt and washboards pretty good.

Initially they were vibrating at around 100kph, when the speed limit was 110, no problem. The lower speed vibrating did not return after the initial period of it.

Forgot to mention, the Nanocom showed no faults in the SLS and even though the SLS light was showing on the dash, no fault code to clear...
