Mine did that, a double chirp when turned off. It was the fan belt.

Before I had a Land Rover I did not have any torque wrenches. Now I have three.

ahh yes, you dont need to remove the big axel nut for that. Lucky I asked as I was thinking I needed to do that for the o-ring. Your post saved me a bit of work...

Seems I'll have a spare axle nut then, or at least I wont have to buy one when I do the hubs.

    Can't believe it's a semi-floating rear end....

Never had a problem with my Jeeps or Patrol semi-floating axles, but all the earlier Landies save for the first of the Series 1 had been full floaters.
Full floating is much easier to service, stronger/takes more load and is just nicer.

Fixed the very broken parking light bulb holders by and added a harness with plug. Bulb is now an LED so should last ages. When it needs replacing I can cut off the silicon and redo.

I also took out my fuel pump that was not reading the fuel level correctly ....seemed that float was caught a little so hopefully re seating will work....it does seem to be reading correctly now but we will see. The tags holding the return pipe were broken which might see it get skewed a little. Not sure. Cheers

Worked on installing my shiny new APT steering guard. Fabrication quality is excellent, plus Ben was great to deal with.
Took a bit of loosening/shuffling/swinging-on/finagling of the bull bar to get the mounting bolts in with a persuader. Axle stand base makes a surprisingly comfortable headrest.
Couldn't get the lower steering box mount 15 mm bolt undone with 3/8 shifter.
Then couldn't find my 1/2 inch 15 mm impact socket OR the 3/8 to 1/2 inch adapter for my breaker bar. Friends don't let friends borrow tools. Hopefully Mr WD40 is doing his job overnight.
Then the rain snuck up on me while I was under the front. Drenched. Next house will have an indoor workshop.
Then had a nice dinner with family. Mum referred to Gary (The Discovery) as my firstborn son. Made me proud, even though she may have been joking. I choose to believe she was not.
Lots more bits to finish off before next weekends sand dune adventure day.
Look for lots of pics this week when all the mostly finished projects I have on the go actually get finished!

    T10 LED.
Pack of 10 for about $10-ish .. ebay.

    example

They're polarity independent, so you just fit and forget.

    Smile beach of a day

Fantastic fun day at preston beach south of perth, didnt catch any fish but the kids swam with a very large seal which they then fed all our bait too, up close a very impressive animal. We didn't let down tyre pressure so made sand driving a little of a pain but once momentum was up all good, the p38 did as well as the D2 but fuel consumption was high. making fond memory days is what its all about,
