Bunch of parts arrived, courtesy of Mario.

I'm still waiting on a few more, but I have the following slated for the long weekend next weekend. Stuff that needs doing/preventative/might as well do it now while I have everything else off and out of the way...

    water pump
    power steering pump
    balance of coolant hoses
    engine and transmission mounts
    sump gasket
rocker cover gasket and the rubber grommets.(didn't seal properly last time when I did the injector loom)
starter motor contact rebuild (courtesy of the rocker cover I presume)
rear output seal on T case and hand brake rebuild
    propshaft coupler kit
    ceramic brake pads
stainless brake lines (to suit my lift, as others looking a bit worse for wear)
    coil spring helper airbags
exhaust manifold replacement with flattened ceramic coated
idler and tensioner and serpentine belt
    harmonic balancer and seal

That's going to take longer then a long weekend!!

Why the harmonic balancer? Stuffed or trying to get rid of the D2 2250rpm drone?

attempt to get rid of the drone. Thought I'd do that, the hand brake is rattling (can feel that through the handle). working towards getting everything preventative changed as I'm planning a long semi remote trip.

Yeh. I havent quite broken the news to my inlaws, that I might be occupying their garage and using their pit for a bit longer than the weekend.

but I figure, I would be doing all of that over the next 6-12 months, so I might as well do it all at once, when most of the bits are off. Plus it would make some of the removals easier with less stuff in the way.

Still trying to plan out the best way to tackle it.

    I was thinking:

    Warm engine I would:
remove fan, belts and move AC.
    remove manifold
successfully remove all 10 manifold studs without snapping any thought a warm head would help this this.
    dump oil
    dump coolant
remove idler, tensioner and harmonic balancer
remove Power steering pump, and goose neck hose
I thought I would bolt the goose neck hose to the power steering pump on the bench as I had replaced it a few months ago and it was a PIA to get the hose on from beneath.
    remove oil filter
    remove centrifugal filter
    remove water pump
remove coolant hoses, I was going to change
    do the engine mounts
sump gasket next (as the new mounts should give me a bit more clearance)
water pump back on and balance of coolant hoses
    power steering pump
    harmonic balancer, idler, tensioner
drill out and retap my centrifugal cover as one of the threads is stripped (I put a bolt on it)
    install new studs, manifold
    ac and belt on

starter I can do one evening.
Brakes, hoses, axle o ring and airbags might be weekend following, as there is probably a day of mucking around there.
hand brake, coupler and T case seal, maybe following weekend.

Air conditioner compressor making a whir!

The compressor on the air cond has developed quite a whirring sound as the revs climb.

Not it nice to listen to!

im chasing some advice on what to do here. It appears a new compressor is the way to go?

does anyone know of a good second hand one I can buy?

    cheers,

    phil.
