I'm getting a new boat trailer but still don't trust welded alloy boat trailers. Would have to be exceptionally well engineered for corrugated roads up North that it will go on. Cheers

Good ally trailers for heavier boats are bolted. What happened to your Discovery 2 today?

I TIG welded up an alluminium side console for my tinny. I am stoked in the outcome. Cheers

Used a pipe bender and filled the tube with sand to allow draw without fracturing. Cheers

    There's a reason semi-trailers are not alloy.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

I wouldn't get any aluminium trailer, especially up there. These are not the same metals and engineering that the automotive industry use. I would always be waiting for it to crack apart.

Steel which has been gal dipped in my opinion.
    Cheers

Yep for sure. My pick is hot dipped galv even though it's not like it was 20 years ago and to thoroughly paint with Xtroll Rust Conqueror UV inside and out x 2 coats before first use. Cheers

Not the chassis though. The load bearing bit.

I would like to like alloy. Less corrosion and much lighter. Ok for bitumen. I am talking Cape York corrugations and I am not convinced for the whole trailer to be alloy for that purpose. Cheers
