Take the fuel cap flap into Bunnings, they can pretty closely match it.

Completed my first oil change on Chaffy today. What a bloody mission. My hands are just way to big to try and fit in the area required to remove and refit the main oil filter.

Will not be doing that again in hurry unlessI absolutely have too I ended up having to remove the dual battery and the dual battery tray so I could get my meataxes in to screw the main filter back on.

Having only moved to Ipswich earlier this year I now need to find a mechanic. I think the 45 minute - 1 hour drive to the North side of the city to access the specialists To get Chaffy serviced fronm now on will be worth every cent.

Had my mechanic Leigh in Darwin at Nightcliff Auto which is now LR Automotive performing all my services due to the km I was travelling whilst in the NT . I tell you he was worth every cent.

Sitting back now with scratched arms, sore back, stuffed hands dowining pain killers https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/sm...rsandbeers.gif

I think my home mechanicing days are coming to an end.

    Cheers Chris https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/sm...rsandbeers.gif

I just don’t have the room to manoeuvre something that size. I ended up using a belt to remove the filter. Putting it back on was a whole new experience. I also have a few accessories on that side taking up all the room with dual battery system and provent installed. With everything in place I have a gap just big enough to squeeze my arm into to try and reach the filter. Once it was off I was not able to get my hand up to wipe the face of the oil filter housing. Arms and hands aren’t suppose to bend that way.

I ended up having to remove the dual battery system and tray to get my hand in to a point where I could screw it back on but still couldn’t tighten it properly. Ended up using a rope to tighten it off fully. I seriously thought I was going to have to call a flat bed to take into a shop.

unfortunately my hands are just to big and I suffer from over use syndrome so after a while my grip strength just starts to fail and I pay for it over the next few days until the hands settle down again.

If I give it another go the first thing will be to remove the dual battery tray which in the long run will save heaps of time. The main worry is making sure the filter is tightened off properly to stop it from leaking or worse coming undone.

    cheers Chris

I have an oil filter tool that is a strap affair but if I still had the D2 I'd be getting one of these for the next change.
