Its weird, mine has only ever had genuine. When it was new I could always hear the filter spin down, these days I cant. I'm not sure if the filter has changed, the car has changed or my hearing has changed.

Nevertheless and by way of example it was just 5 weeks ago when i last changed all my fluids and filters and it was a Ryco rotor filter that came out and a Mahle rotor filter that went in. The Ryco always buzzed on spin down however the Mahle is silent. I commonly interchange between those two when purchasing. I actually miss the buzz ....

Re the rotor filter, I've only ever used Mann/Genuine and if I listen vewy vewy carefullwy I can just hear it wind down

Is it conventional wisdom that the fountain of youth dries up at 40, 50 or older...? But of course as that fountain dries up the spring of wisdom commences to flow
