Yeah, two bulbs blown or connection a bit dodgy.
But side repeater was OK, which only showed up on the static jumped test.

We know that if one bulb blows the flasher has a fast blink rate.
Didn't know that if both main bulbs blow(F&R) indicator system still semi works, relay DOESN'T, but dash arrow still flashes at the normal rate.
And because the relay doesn't work, side repeater won't flash either .. so looks like a major fault.

Weird how they set up these modern systems.
    Arthur.

Well, it wasn't today, it was over the last week.
After the great autobox rebuild of 2020 (while we were all hunkered down due to some mad virus) we decided that we would take a trip to Christies Beach near Echuca for a few days.
So what happened to the D2 with the newly rebuilt auto ? Well, nothing really. apart from the VSR for the aux battery karking it. The gearbox behaved properly with lockup happening when it should and the gear changes were fast and smooth. Even the fuel consumption while towing the camper was pretty good. Moe to Echuca and back towing the nearly 2 tonne camper returned just under 14l/100km. All I did was try and keep the TC locked as much as possible by going to third when it got close to unlocking.
It was a relaxing few days and the D2 behaved itself.
I now wait with baited breath for the next D2ism.
    Cheers,

In my old manual I used to get under 10l/100km doing a commute between Moe and Morwell. This auto I really have no idea about. The auto was playing up for a while then it spent about 5 months off the road with its transmission in bits getting rebuilt.

After a few weeks of a totally leak free D2 the good run has ended. Not oil or coolant or AC gas or brake fluid or any of the usual suspects.
The bloody windscreen washer bottle has split.....
I suppose that'll be a pain to get at too. I see more skinned knuckles in my future.

    Alternator

Jumped on the Princes Highway late on Monday night, booted it and got the battery light illuminated. Power steering still working, so not the belt. I made a run for home, and arrived just as the headlights were dim enough for folks to be flashing me to let me know they were off.

Having looked at a couple of Youtube videos, it seemed like a ***** of a job to change it. I did book it in to have it changed, but I've got most of the gear and about 75% of an idea, so I girded my loins yesterday and had a solid crack at getting the old one out.

All up, removal took about two and a half hours, then a trip to buy the replacement, then another three hours to refit. I've learned a lot, and it won't take as long on the next one....

It's just a shame the lad was at School. He'd have learned a number of "workaround" methods and some very interesting, and novel, compound profanity / blasphemy.

Maybe when the next thing goes...

Presumably you're referring to the alternator?
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

Think I've got a handle on the profanities, any advice RE getting it out? Last time I had issues (managed to snap the cable off the connector) I pulled the intake off but would like to avoid it this time cos I need to get in and fix it properly.

Patience is the key with that job - although I would remove the viscous fan if there is a “next time” for me What happened to your Discovery 2 today?

Are you sure it has split? I had the o-ring in the pipe connector start leaking, but I managed to remove the fog light/brake cooling trim and get my hand and pick in there to remove and replace it.
