Smelled diesel after drive to Mullumbimby on way back to Suffolk park.
stopped at shopping centre a diesel trail.
    WTF?
got back to caravan park, removed engine cover and diesel coming out of front of hose in head.

those who have done it know that this is the most inacccessable nut in the universe.

After about 2 hour s and grinding of spanners I have stopped the leak but I don’t really know if the nut is tight enough. Time will tell. Funny thing is that it is at least a year since I replaced the FPR, because I was worried about the hose and did a manifold off job.

I would like to see any spanner mod suggestions.

    regards PhilipA

I modified an old brake pipe spanner but it was still a pain, it always feels like you want to tighten a bit more but cant quite get on it. I copied this pic off the net (it looks the same as what i did) because i cant find the bloody thing.

I would like to try a deep brake pipe socket but might not be long enough

Something like a diesel injector socket might do it but there all 1/2 drive which might be hard to get in there!

I have fumigated the roof rack supports. Some are just full of spider webs.

Mine has hardly moved for two years and it has less arachnids than yours...

Re spanner . Looked at google images and the go looks to be a 14mm ring spanner bent 90 degrees right at the end and a bit ground out to go over the pipe.

now all I need is a vice a map gas burner and angle grinder or fine hacksaw blade none of which I have while on holidays. oh and a cheap 14 mm spanner although I do have one which I have mangled the other end of.
maybe the blokes at Forest glen will have one made up.

You went on holiday in a D2 without all these vital ingredients?

    Re diesel return pipe.
I am pretty sure that the union is tight and it is still drooling so have ordered a new o ring from British off-road as I am currently at Cottontree. Will be available Monday afternoon.

The bending of a 14 mm ring spanner was not all that successful as it needed the missing 8 mm bit to grab the nut. I had Midas atAshgrove do it and they did a good job FOC.
Access to the nut is much better if you remove the brace to the vacuum pump and the oil feed to the vacuum pump., but it is still a PITA. I should be able to pull the pipe off and fit a new orang.
    Regards PhilipA
