Hunting through the shed for others things and found the wheel cover I got for my County ( and never fitted). Looks like a 235/85-16 cover fits my 255/55-19s just nice.

Won't be any detectable coolant in oil, just oil through the cooling system, makes a hell of a mess, but the sooner you fix it and flush it out, the better.
I did take the oil filler cap off and no froth but I thought the oil separator is possibly hiding it.

Anyway job for tomorrow, hopefully only O rings and I can get some without too much hassle.

I like the setup as is, it's a good efficient and compact oil cooling setup and don't want to change it unless it's the cooler itself and then it will be a temp setup to get me going until I can cough up for another unit.

Discorevy the stall speed appears to be around 2300 from stepping on it from a very slow rolling start, also the extra drag down low has really pronounced the turbo coming on song at 1800 rpm. Still stock tuning so later will up the fueling from off idle to 1800 and see how the response changes.

Also BOTH the cdl switches on the that later transfer case are kaput, thought one at least would be ok !! But I don't use it and no lever so no dramas.

A storm was coming through Thursday night so ran out to wind the widows up as it started to sprinkle.

    Ddddddddddd goes the drivers window.

Sounds like the pinion on the motor has strpiped.
Never popped a door card off the Disco before but it was pretty much e same as a Deefer.
Had the card off, windows up before it take started to rain.
A quick Google looks like a complete motor replacement?

Thank the Rover deities for AC atm!

Well last night drowned the wagon What happened to your Discovery 2 today?

Bit floody over here last night (Auckland, New Zealand) and got caught doing a run to grab more towels to help with the flooding at my mums house. Turned down a side street I’ve driven a million times and what was initially a bit of surface water became deep real quick, never seen anything like it. went a bit further to be able to do a full u turn to keep the bow wave going and the disco just got picked up and floated almost in to a tree and died. water coming in the doors real fast and couldn’t open the doors so turned keys to wind down the window to climb out just before all electrics fully died and abandoned ship.

Wagons now sitting in my works warehouse attempting to dry out , safe to say all electrics are fried. Pulled battery, ecu , etc and strong smell of cooked electrics. Now to see what insurance says ..

That is sad, hopefully you can get new ECU and BCU's and resurrect her.

    Hopefully she survives.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

IMG_20230127_192143.jpg This is what it looked like after I pressure cleaned the oil/water mixture off. At this point just looking at it I wasn't going to put it back in.

IMG_20230127_192225.jpg I blocked one hole with thumb and blew in other one and felt air on my fingers, bit of daylight where it shouldn't be.

Have ordered this, cross fingers and clench bum cheeks it is suitable and not throwing money away.

Engine Oil Cooler for Land Rover Defender L316 Discovery L318 2.5L Td5 1998-2016 | eBay

If it turns out to be some paper thin fragile garbage, I have worked out that reversing the banjo bolts and capping them on the outside will do until I can buy a better quality item.

Before I get too deep into chasing my tail research, has anyone got a quick answer as to what the piston/spring in the head of the oil filter housing does? Thanks.
