I purchased mine from tyres and more:)
I bought these 18 months back, been very good and great value at around 200ea
My last set on my D2 were bridgestone 697 @ 245/70x16.....the best size combo I had tried in almost 350k's......except they throw stones.
I have BFG KO in 255.70x16.
This is a good size as it increases gearing by about 5% which is tolerable for a TD5 to pull, although you have to get to about an actual GPS 84 Kmh to lock the transmission which can be a nuisance.
The spare fits on the bracket without alteration.
My favourite size for all Classic type LRs is the 245.75x16 but when I bought my 16 inch rims I didn't realize that they were 8 inch from a 38A and after a retailer claimed he would not fit the 245s as they would come off the rim more easily I took the conservative option and fitted 255.70x16 and I am happy with them.

I put 265/70/16 on mine which look great and don't rub with a 2" lift.
Just be aware that 265/75/16 are illegal without an engineer's certificate and hence your vehicle would be unroadworthy and uninsured, which would be bad news if you hit something expensive or injured someone.
IMHO, I tend to only recommend two sizes for a D2 with 16" wheels,
245/70R16 (this is considered a "common" tyre size by most tyre shops and is there for very cheap to buy)
or
245/75R16 (this is my preference)
I feel a big difference driving customers D2s with bigger tyres such as the 265s that I call "Defender tyre size"

Daz
I like it when a professional recommends what you have fitted to your D2 :D:D
Previous owner had fitted 5, 245/70 LT Copper AT3s just before he traded it on an xtrail! I'm pretty impressed and if I still have Charlie come tyre change time I'll be staying with this size. The only annoyance is the green love letters from the govt requesting money. With this size Charlie's speedo is totally accurate so no sneeze factor unlike the other cars in the motley collection.
Cheers
Steve
Wow, such great advice from lots of people, thank you so much everyone. I think I've been talked out of 265 75 16, so I'll be going for 1 of the other 3 options mentioned. I've decided on BFG AT KO's, is there a difference between the KO & KO2 to justify the extra expense?
I've just got to change the Shockies and a couple of worn bushes and I'll be set to buy new tyres. I've changed the front steering linkage and put an OME steering dampener on, so a set of OME shocks, the bushes, and tyre shopping we'll go.
Has anyone used tyresales.com.au for tyres?
i have cooper zeon LTZ in 285/60R18 on my d2. i would get them again.
