    Keyless entry issue

Im having a frustrating issue with my new D2's keyless entry.

When I got the car a few days ago, the remote locking wasn't working at all.

I tried a trick I found in another thread (key in, start car, stop car, key out, wait 60sec, drivers door open, key in, door closed, start car) which seemed to get the fob working again.

I drove the car to work, and when I came out to the car after my shift (6 hrs) the fob would not work. I opened the drivers door with the key, setting off the alarm.

I used the EAK code to get the car home.

Batteries in the fob have been changed.

I tried the trick mentioned above again today and all appears well again.

Why would it be doing this? Is it an issue with the BCU? or the fob receiver? Something im missing?

The previous owner said he had issues with the alarm going off in the middle of the night. Could a dead door switch cause this problem?

Im going to plug it into a nanocom this week to see if any codes have been thrown, but for the moment, i'm wondering if anybody else has come across similar problems.

    Dizza.

Nanocom won't help i had a similar issue if I parked und under the power line's to our house and also when I parked outside the chemist /Bendigo bank one day I had to have it towed home rolled it off the truck unlocked it with the key and it started straight away in the end i was going to change the receiver after removing it I found the others I have were the earlier type so I refitted mine and had no problems since I can only put it down to the earth getting a clean when removing and refitting the bolt

    Sure enough, same issue tonight.

Locked with the fob when I got to work, 3 hours later, no go.

I have had similar issues (including full immobilisation) when parking in several locations - found the issue has been related to electronic interference from surrounding security systems and telecommunication systems.
When stranded in Bellingen last year, NRMA guy suggested putting aluminium foil across the dash - guess what! Car started and all returned to normal.

Pls note: One local business in Rockhampton has found transmissions from their shop were the cause and they have changed their systems - all good now as I can park in front of their shop.
    Hope this helps.

See attachment to get some ideas, just dont bother with the fob's frequency and VIN range cos it's irrelevant, the other issues are universal

Agreed, replace the receiver first, easy if you have the rear sunroof. Check the frequency on the unit and order the part from an MG dealer (rover 75 ). It is half the price from if you buy it from a LR place.

    Cheers, Jerry
