I use a 50-50 mix of 80-90 and 85-140 Nulon on diffs and transfer.
I found that towing in hot conditions made the transfer case oil go discoloured quickly.
When I changed to the mix the oil stayed a good colour.
It makes it hard to change from hi to lo when cold but other than that is fine.
I cannot comment on the gearbox other than to repeat what others say that Castrol Syntrans is the go.

This refers to a D1 or D2 or an old RRC with LT230 as you don't say what type of car you have and it is not in your profile.
