Mine developped an internal short at the beginning of my D2 ownership and blew the fuse which stopped the pump, at that time i knew nothing about how a D2 works and paid serious money for recovery and diagnostic cos the mechanic was incompetent and spent two days to realise why the fuse keeps blowing ... so maybe for some knowlegeable guys is a gain but IMO it can make more damage than the benefit of a warning which will never show up as long as the filter is changed at decent intervals ... due to it's position and poor design for those who are doing much off-road where it can be hurt or wading is an unnecessary source of failure IMO
not the case for Australia but in those countries where the winter is hard and they drop salt on the roads it is a real PITA as it gets ingressed with salted dirt and becomes completely erratic
