New heavy front drive shaft with bigger unis

Hi all. I am looking at a new front prop. I need wider unis because even pulling out my castor correction bushes my front prop shaft has never much liked my lift even though its only 2 inch.

I like the idea of just getting a Tom Woods with 1310 unis from the jeep (cough...cough) place so if any probs i can send it back.

I am not interested in any shaft that retains 1300 unis which i think rules out Hardy and Les Richmond but i might check that.

Apart from GBR and BA Utah shafts and Tom Woods (both 1310 unis from what i have read) any other well balanced big uni shafts to consider?

    Cheers

I've used Dunning and Fairbank in England for a custom double cardan shaft for my 101. Check them out - Propshafts, Universal Joints and Centre Bearings | Dunning & Fairbank - they may be able to help. They are easy to deal with and their prices were quite good.
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.

Thanks mate. So they recommend 32 degree yokes for lifted rovers. So that would be 1310 unis i think.

I see you're in Brisbane, go have a chat to the guys at Universal Drive Shafts at Virginia, they do all sorts of custom stuff.

It will however be cheaper to get them from Tom Woods directly. They have done 100's for the D2's and I can almost guarantee you wont have an issue.

I ran a GBR shaft in the front of mine and its smashes the centre bearing in the DC joint every few 1000 k's, but that is due to the amount of front end travel the car has. The customer service has been virtually non existent for follow up support in the issue as Bill at GBR is 'very busy'.

So not only larger greasable unis all heavily pre-greased but also greasable centre ball and lottle plastic bit to attach to the grease gun to grease the dish shaped grease point on the ball. Looks awesome.
