    Lamp Interior Rear Faulty

p { margin-bottom: 0.25cm; line-height: 120%; } I have posted on this before, nothing conclusive apart from checking to see if there is any corrosion in the cables from the grommet in the roof. (Why is there a grommet in the roof) I've looked through the hole that's left when the lamp is taken out and did not see any.
This weekend I will be removing the sagging head-liner and replacing it with a new non saggy head-liner. This gives me a good opportunity to get a good look at the cables and connectors.

The problem with the light is that when a globe is put in, it blows the fuse, # 18 IIRC, and takes out the radio and cigarette lighter.
I had thought of taking or piggy backing the supply BCU return and earth from the Lamp Interior Front, except that they both have the same supply line, the same return via the BCU and the same Earth, via the header. Well on the English one they do, on the export version they go to Earth header 0706 Rear and Earth header 0707 Front.

I do not know why the fuse would blow when a globe is put in. The power comes from the supply line and goes through the globe to the earth, or the power comes from the supply and goes through the globe to the BCU, depending on the position of the switch.

Maybe the switch is buggered up and shorts the supply directly to the earth. That would do it.

The big question is, when the head-liner comes out, what do I look for in the cabling? or any thing else for that matter.

    Thanks in advance.

Hi, usually the "export" is about Asian, African and NAS modells mostly LHDs AFAIK for Australians the "english" diagrams are good. Don't bother with this though cos the issue seems very strange as the interior lights supply F20 has nothing to do with the cigar lighter whatsoever cos this(amongst others) is fed from F15 through the auxiliary circuit relay

if the fuse blows instantly when you put a bulb the problem is most probably in the bulb holder which makes a short to earth when you insert the bulb...to rule this out improvise a bulb with two wires, one side connect it to earth, disconnect the purple wire from the holder and connect it to the other side of the bulb...if it doest blow and the system works this way on automatic mode then the holder is the problem..... which doesnt explain the cigar lighter thing so there might be a bodge...BUT if the fuse blows this way too it needs serious investigation and we'll speak again

One thing I have noticed is that the load space light looks like it has a push-push on -off switch, no earth. I'd guess that the load space is the most rear light that lights up the well, the load space, or what would be the boot.
My car has a three way switch in there and the push-push switch is over the passenger seats, in between the map holders.
    Is this right?

Thanks for the advice on which circuit diagrams to use, one less thing to confuse me.

Today I put the front led into the rear lamp. It worked. On both "door" and "on". I then put the old incandescent light into the front lamp. Still all working. I think that the car is responding to all the love, care and attention (and money)being lavished on it, or maybe my big clumsy fingers have been shorting things out.

I've gone out tonight to check it, twice, it's so nice to be able to see clearly in the 'boot'
