I changed out the SHUTTLE VALVE ASSY (SWO500040)
Why, were there SVS related fault codes stored in the ECU?..., and was the unit bran' new? if yes for both questions and the SVS fault codes are still there you'll have to check the earths and the circuit between the ECU and SVS output
Hi Rob,
Don't give up, try the connections at each wheel. I had a couple of dodgy ones so I have now soldered them up. When they break I'll fit long cable ABS sensors back to the module.
Mt three Amigos came on once or twice every three months, always the back left hand sensor connection, soldered it up so far so good.
You can go over to Toyota however the people aren't the same, been there done that, with my Toyota it was the O2 sensors, had no end of problems with the engine light being on all the time. Sold that came back to Land Rover, you'll be back...... Hopefully without the fuel and the matches.
You could always take the globes out, that would be a cheap fix....
Cheers Marty
None of these problems are new,,
since the first post on AULRO there have been 3Amigo problems,, and the fix for all of them is in here,,
you just need to do your research before spending any more,, Option B will cost you ZERO $$,, and at this stage its either a code scan or that. The four wheel sensors can fail (for some reason its the fronts mainly) but can be tested easily by yourself at ZERO cost.
Just keep picking away at it,, :D
If Land Rovers were perfect this would be a very small Forum--;):D
Out of interest what was the first postHTML Code:since the first post on AULRO there have been 3Amigo problems,,
That would be going back 15 years plus, I think I was one of the 1st to do the option "B" repair never had a problem with modulator since but have done 4 wheel speed sensors since.
and you saved an awfull lot of AULROians an awfull lot of money by posting about it.
:clap2::cool:
That is the good thing about this site, it can save you a lot of money and landy owners do tend to try things out and if it works pass the info on.
In some cases if we stuff up also pass it on too so others learn from our stuff ups
Rod
Have 10 litres and a couple of lighters on hand that may help your cause!!!!.
In the meantime see if you can get someone to read the codes for you. If it comes up with "Ground or reference ground fault" it is more than likely a card fault. Replacing the Shuttle valves will not help. Option B is then the cheap and quick solution to a frustrating problem. Read up thoroughly on Stevo's solution, get yourself a Multimeter and with the ABS unit on the bench, test for continuity between the shuttle valves and relevant plugs described in option B.
In my case the earth wire card connection was at fault. With the shuttle valve holding screws loose the fault went away (No pressure on the card). Did not cut the wires, just bared them and soldered the additional ones in. The outside pin on the shuttle valve is the earth (test with your multimeter). A couple of $ for a connector and a few hours removing, repairing and replacing the ABS will solve the problem.
Then get your nifty brake bleeder out and have fun getting the air out.
best of luck with your "truck".
Regards
Harry
