    diesel leak

My 2003 disco td5 is leaking fuel from the top of the tank. I suspect the high pressure line has rubbed through on the chassis rail.I am at Timber Creek on the way home to Bundaberg about 4000 Ks away. Can the fuel line be removed without dropping the tank. If so I will try to fix it here otherwise I will see if I can get it fixed in Katherine. Does anyone know of a good Land Rover mechanic there

If you have some 7MM fuel hose you could bridge the wear through.
The high pressure hose to motor has a connector in the wheelarch about 120MM from the right angle turn.

If you remove the boot lining you can reach the other end through the porthole. You can remove the carpet by getting a Stanley knife and cutting them along just at the bins and you cannot see it.

I think that you can pull the line out but seeing that I had NRMA premium care and mine went on the GRR and everything was covered in diesel mud, I let a mechanic do it, but that in itself is another story.

I know of a good bloke in Mataranka, Toyota mechanic on south side of town but be prepared for a mouthfull about Land Rovers.

    Good luck.

If you come anywhere near Alice, I have a fuel line.
    I'd recommend Sutton motors.
But that's if your trip was headed this way.
I'd probably follow the 7mm patch in route if it's leaking really bad.

If your high pressure line has worn through you will have diesel everywhere and no chance to get to Katherine.
So maybe it is one of the other pipes.
Mine had just a tiny pinhole and it sprayed everywhere and I lost about 1/2 tank in maybe 100Km.
I don't know for sure but I think it was OK when I stopped for scones at Ellenbrae and then noticed the fuel gauge down crossing the Pentacost River so dived into El Questro and was flat topped into Kununurra.

Thanks for your help. I am in Katherine now so I suppose it is not the high pressure hose. I have already got to the top of the pump so will see if the hole is near there and will try to fix with some 7mm hose
    Thanks again John

Not a reply but a tag along!

My 2002 TD5 Disco was leaking fuel, I saw it dripping off a rail somewhere below the fuel cooler area, (I was under the car at the time) but it no longer seems to do it and I could not find a leak.

Is there somewhere I should be looking in particular?

    Ta

    Sounds like your fuel regulator.
Rear of the head on drivers side. Typically drips onto CPS and starter.
