A good question and unfortunately I don't have an answer to that. A couple of thoughts though.
It may be time to find an electrical schematic for the vehicle and work out what wire colours do what. For my discovery it was pretty simple as it was low spec system without an amp, so it was iso standard. A bit of googling may turn up the electrical library manual and you can always buy the rave cd with it here.
Secondly in my experience black wires are usually negative and for a negative earth vehicle this translates to ground.

I email the guy i got the wiring from and that correct, the solid black wires go to grd.
Now for the rest.........

It seems your adapter harness is supplied with the wires not in the socket
Leave the black wires out and connect wires as per rave manual C0092 diagram
