ACE valve block wiring is integral part of the chassis harness which has 4 versions, it's about the entire loom, see this (click + ) Allbrit.de - Ersatzteile f?r LAND ROVER & MG ROVER and that harness is not very easy to swap and different from early to facelifts due to rear lamps wiring
Still not a big job on a D2..
Just unplug and unclip. Then do same to install..
The pipes running between the pump and the valve block are single piece when fitted during build but must be cut to remove if the engine is in-situ. Replacement pipes were 2-piece.
My ace was due for major repairs including noisy pump, leaking pump main pressure hose, warning lights, worn out ram bellows and bushes.
Deleted the lot and fitted non ace stabiliser and drive belt idler
Dont miss the ace really. Another thing that wont leave me stranded...
ACE - short of a collapsed pump bearing - can never leave you stranded...
And a specific length drive belt can be used to bypass it if needed so easy and light..
To have a noisy pump, leaks, worn out cylinders etc indicates a severe lack of upkeep or neglect at some point... these things just hardly fail... it's probably one of the most reliable systems on the D2...
How many here service their ACE and replace the fluid etc regularly?
I've read a few cases on UK sites of ACE systems running without/low oil seizing causing broken hamonic balancer pulleys.
ACE in far more reliable that the SLS system:o
+1^^^, as long as it's not neglected it's bulletproof, i'm changing the oil in it and clean the filter at the same time with the steering oil after 2 years using only the genuine PAS fluid even though it's not in the maintainance sheet.... the most common failure are the pipes to the actuators but they are killed only by rust so that can be avoided as well.... shame on those who invented the conversion kits, they should have sold cheaper parts or repair kits instead cos IMO it's a very good system as long as it works within designed limits, i suspect that the system didnt work correctly for those who are not missing it after a conversion. What is missed is that ACE needs recalibration if different than standard dimension wheels are fitted otherwise it doesnt work at it's complete capacity but will not illuminate the warning for that.Quote:

With tester if you have one or just drive it as fast as you can to stay safe making lots of cornerings both ways and it will bleed itself, important is to prime the pump before you drive it as to see the fluid circulating well in the tank with engine running otherwise you'll loose itQuote:
