    M&S No throttle response

Hi everyone, I have an interesting problem that I would sooner NOT have.
I have M&S lights and no throttle.
It is not all the time. If I keep turning it on and off it will, after about eight to ten cycles of the igniting key it will suddenly come good and start.( Once started it will run normally until you turn the key off)
Nanocom tells me code 4.7 throttle response failure.
    Fat lot of information there.
I have pulled the usual ECU plugs and they are clear.
Also what is ambient air switch?( apparently it is also unwell.
Any ideas are welcome. Regards Nick,

A few things can trigger this.

Check the XYZ switch is working properly (check all gears as selected are displayed properly on the dash)

Check that your battery is not low on voltage or dying.

    These are the main triggers.

The M&S lights flashing indicate that a fault is logged in the auto transmission. This puts it into limp mode, which basically is 3rd gear and why you have no throttle response. I really would not drive it when I limp mode, as even when you are driving in 3rd gear conditions it seems to make the auto smell like its burning.
    Cheers

Just to be sure have you cleared the fault using the nanocom?

If you've done that and it reappears then Slunnie's ideas are where I'd head next.

Dying battery is the cheapest fix so check it first.

    Cheers

The (4,7) fault appears to triggered when the voltages on TPS ways 1 and 2 differ by more than 9% from expected values.

The Autobox uses road speed, throttle angle, engine torque, and engine speed signals from the ECU to determine which gear to select.
A loss of throttle signal should only lock out kick down, and doesn't trigger limp mode.

I can say from recent experience that a Position Switch fault does not effect throttle response.

Checking the fault codes on the Auto with the Nanocom will give you a better idea of what is triggering the M&S.

    cheers

It seems to be the battery.
It is about four years old and when I charged it overnight the m&s faults went away.
A new battery is cheaper than a trip to the LR workshop to tell me the same thing + about $ 500.00 on top for labour
    Thanks Slunnie.
