I reckon it's the fact that the base takes the weight and most of the force means the m8's would hold on nicely. Cheers

    I think the same.

I was actually thinking to create mine so that the battery still sits on the bottom of the box (ie no bottom to the battery mount), but the mount is a cage that just restrains the battery from moving around and retains it in an accident or inversion.

Taping into the seat mounts is a genius idea.
    Cheers

You will also find that the 2B/S cables for the negative link and feed from the Traxide Usi 160 plus all the other cables assist in restricting any movement as well.
This setup has been track tested on multiple trips to Fraser Island, the Glass House Mountains, various National Parks around the Sunshine Coast and has stood up to the appalling roads in Queensland. I have yet to test it on 1000s of Ks of corrugated roads but for my personal needs it is sufficiently fit for purpose

    Good information

This is one to watch, it is a great source for fitting a second battery.

It all relatively easy to make a rear tray, even with rudimentary welding skills, a steel one could be knocked up in a day. I made mine in aluminium because I had access to an AC Tig at the time and because I like to be flash lol

    Cheers Dave
Hi mate looking at doing exact same thing
Just wondering dimensions between centres? Is it 210mm for the tray
    Cheers pat

I can't remember offhand mate. You'll have to measure as I described earlier. I would take a measurement for you but it would pulling the car apart as I now have a rear storage system fitted. Sorry.
