    Fan belt squeak?

The car has developed what sounds to me like a fan belt squeak. So I am thinking the tensioner pully or idler pully bearings or what ever bearing needs to be replaced. Except that when I put the car in neutral the sqeak stops, rev the engine and again no squeak. Back into gear and foot down and the squeak is back.
I would think that if one of the bearings was on the way out, then the squeak would be sort of constant, am I wrong on this?
    The car is a TD5.
The plan is to remve the viscous fan etc. on Saturday and see what bit ifeeal rough, I'm hoping that the dodgy part will sound obvious when spun by hand.

    Thanks

I've had a good look at the exhaust manifold. ports 1 and 5 are doubled bolted. The only sign of an oily black residue is at the front, beyond the port for cylinder 1.
Would the sooty residue be visible next to the manifold or could it spray a distance away?

I checked all that I could, even the alternator, the harmonic balancer wouldn't budge. The fan bearing is newish it went in, in Sept 2015.

The chirp that happens when turing the engine off has gone. I though that this may be the harmonic Balancer.

How old is the belt? My Defender had a squeak which disappeared after a new belt was fitted.

I replaced the belt, ther old one was hard and cracked. The sqeak under acceleration under load is still there. Just revving the engine in neutral is sqeakless.

Normally you can see it around the port
