    4.0 V8 Injectors - Options

I have 16 4.0 V8 injectors and need to select 8 to go into an engine. Been quoted $25 to service each injector so given some might be duds i will probably have to get 12 serviced to get 8 good ones - total cost about $300.

New injectors are about $110 each so is cost effective to service what I have however what other injectors (cheaper) will fit and work on a 4.0.

    Thanks

    Garry

    No.
Thor injectors are shorter than 14CUX injectors and rated at a higher fuel pressure.

You can look at a n injector site to see cross references, but the Thor injectors are Bosch and 4 hole, so good.

You will probably find that some BMW has the same injectors as Bosch did the setup and supplied the Mottronic ECU.

    Regards Philip A
I cannot see on your profile whether you have a D2. If D2 above is correct but D1 should take Mustang, although that applies to 14 CUX.

Can't they tell which are duds when they service them (what does an injector service actually consist of)? i.e. why not just get 8 serviced, take 12 in and then if any of duds when they're servicing them they just grab another one until they have 8 serviced injectors for you?

    Thanks Philip - helpful.

Hmm re the bit above - posted in the D2 section and talking about a 4.0 - the 4.0 never went into a D1

    I appreciate you input

    Thanks

To see if they work, the cost is still $25 per unit

    Cheers

    or--
just keep testing till you GET to 8-- might not take 12

you are sure at least 8 work??

I read somewhere that the standard D2 injector will outlast the car,, (good for X amount of cycles)

I didnt realise, Phillip, they were 4 nozzle,

You can test them your self , I have done this using Metho and a spare injector wire plug hooked up to a battery to provide the 12 volts, a a rubber hose and bit of compressed air to pressurise the "Fuel", you'll easily see if they fire and squirt .
Of course you do this at own risk
