Did they replace the spigot bearing ?. If the front input bearing is worn and the spigot was damaged upon fitting the front seal can / will leak , if bearings / preload is out of spec then a new seal won't fix it,
Competent mechanic can rebuild as they are a simple box to do , but obviously someone familiar with them would be better

ok so it may have been a false alarm. It appears as though its diesel leaking. is there a regulator or something around there somewhere? It appears to be leaking diesel and thats seeping onto the clutch plate.

Mechanics in the morning to at least look at the problem.

Fpr is on the drivers side, back of the block and when I leaks it runs down onto the gearbox.

Thumbs up What year is the TD5?

If the car is D2a (>2003, with VIN 3A in it) make sure you change the return hose from the front of the head to the FPR. It comes with the FPR.

Don't be tempted by low cost FPRs, either. Longevity is NOT their strong suit.

How did the visit to the doctor go?

Doing it yourself? AFAIR, there are many tips about doing the job on the forum.

    Thanks for the replies.

No its a 2000. There is a switch at the back of the block on the drivers side thats leaking disel through it. I assume its the FPR (Fuel Pressure Regulator?). Anyway its leaking a lot of diesel. Ive got one ordered. Now I just hope the clutch dries out and works normally again.

At least I didnt have to rebuild the box. A small favour.

    Cheers for everyones help.
