4.0 V8 Oil Pressure
I have a rebuilt 4.0 V8 so only has assembly lube on all the bearing friction surfaces.
While the 4.0 oil pump apparently does not require priming like the cam shaft driven pumps on earlier engines I did put in petroleum jelly in but the engine has been turned over quite a bit during the assembly process.
Prior to starting up I want to ensure I have oil pressure so have cranked the engine for about 30 secs but the oil pressure light is still on. With only assembly lube for lubrication I am not keen to crank the engine any more.
While there could be an issue with the oil pressure switch and I will check that, how long should it take for oil pressure to build up enough when cranking for the oil pressure light to go off?
Thanks
Garry
