That's cool Luke...
FYI My recreational activity takes me far from assistance and out into the High Country to scramble thru the bush to get to water and as a result I've drowned my key fob once and have also lost the key blade out of the fob.
So I determined not to get caught out again and I got a regular 1 piece key cut and carry it always as a back up. It's usable and will get me home provided after inserting the key and unlocking the door I can open the door and get the key into the ignition barrel and then turn the key ON (ie dashlights on).. all within 20 > 30 seconds. If I take longer the alarm will trigger and in that case I can close the door to silence the alarm, wait some minutes and make another attempt. One day I'll get the EKA code engraved on dog tag attached to the key and that'll deal with the alarm IF i ever work up the patience to use the EKA code. I've never 'needed' to use the EKA code but I have practiced and it's a mighty frustrating experience that only ever seems to come together and work on the 4th or 5th attempt - Grrrrr! Racing the clock is less stress...
The key blank that works is a SILCA NE27
