Alloy rim out of round?
Just bought a second hand alloy D2a genuine rim from the wreckers and took it to have a new tyre fitted for extra spare. Tyre shop tells me it is badly out of round. (oval). The tyre shop tells me they have seen it many times.
I have not come across this before. Is it possible?
The wrecker is reluctant to change it out as he has never heard of it before.

Absolutely, rims can become bent or warped in an impact.

Would an alloy rim that is out of round be likely to have a crack in it somewhere?? Just that an alloy doesn't have a lot of give in it.
Just curious. Never heard of it before.
Cheers,
Jason

Alloys can be re rolled round again.
Those real expensive bead lock alloys that all the cool kids have. They bend and go out of shape a lot. a company in Shepparton Vic does Walker Evans wheels all the time for winch trucks.
I have a cracked 18" that will probably have to be binned though as it's missing a chunk. Not sure how that happened as these are road tyres and never go off-road.
