Gear indicator showing B with a diagnol line going through ti?

I have a customer with this fault.
Has any one found the cure and reason for this, I googled and can't find a definite answer.

I'm 99% sure it's a fault between the BCU and IDM. But I can't find the link to where I've seen it before.

Are they able to connect a diagnostic tester to read any fault codes? Although if it is BCU IDM related there will be no codes.

+1^^^ i've had that myself in 2007 and took me ages to find the fault, unfortunately then i didnt know much about D2s and it was a crack in the BCU's PCB for me but it can be water damage/corrosion in the interior fusebox too...there's no way to find that with tester, the best is to replave the fusebox first cos it's plug and play and if no joy go for the BCU and pray to not be a wiring issue which means the datalink is hurt(not common but possible), better fix it even if it's symptomless now cos it can have various outcomes, immobilisation incuded... i wrote much about that especially here https://www.landyzone.co.uk/search/1...&o=relevance&c[node]=8&c[user][0]=9153
