Just had a lovely winter run down the long beach on Stradbroke Island to Jumpinpin and back. The engine temp never went over the 82 mark of the the thermostat - with soft sand and beach ramp work. I am sold on the in line thermostat and highly recommend it. Some guy took a photo of us too.
PS Great Gulf trip Scotty and so pleased your D2 ran so well and effectively!
Aye
Awesome weather for it Geoff. I love Straddie. Glad to hear it's going well. Cheers
After installing an 82c factory thermostat in Jan this year, water temp has not broken 90 in all kinds of conditions, including hundreds of kms of sand in the Strezlecki Desert at 37 ambient.
In fact, the temp is seldom above 85 and breaks below 78 on the over-run downhill.
These temps are too low for the cabin heater to function properly.
Heartvalve (factory) configuration rated at 82c but I don't know the bypass spring rate or the model it was designed for. I pulled it from a wreck which supposedly had a transplanted high comp 4.0L from a Hong Kong delivered D2.
78 is serious... (mine will get down to 84,) but, its still considered hot by the ecm and fuel map,,
I'd like Rick to comment on engine oils at that temp??
There is a good arguement that for your last trip its just what the doctor ordered,,, :)
This will fry your dumplings Pedro. 10 degrees outside and after 20mins of driving...
