I think the mistake I made on first attempt was to run engine with filler cap off like you would for an old non-recovery system.

Fill it, raise expansion tank, fill again, put cap on, run engine to temp, allow to cool, repeat until done. Should take two or three attempts.

When you raise expansion tank you have to first crack the top hose bleed screw and allow air out then coolant out until solid flow and no more air. Cheers

Ok, I'll persist with the water fill up. Don't want an air lock. Seems painfully hard compared to older vehicles.

I have bought the following OBD2 online and have download the Torque app. The App looks good. Hopefully it reads the OBD2.

I'll let you know if this works ($20 including postage).

A lot of these obd2 dongles are luck of the draw,, took me 3 go's but this ones been plugged in for around 5 years now.

a wake up call with torque is to sit in traffic,, or tailgate at 100 kays and see how much the ACTUAL temps move around,,

Yea i purchased one from ebay and the damn thing would not work on any of the cars i needed it for despite it claiming to work on all of them.
Thankfully i got a full refund pretty quickly, likely because of so many complaints. Just another toy in the shed now. Ebay is great for MOST things but not all.

Believe or not a I had a Bluetooth dongle at home that I couldn't get to work but have since got it working. Also just bought a new one. Too bad, could have spent that on some decent craft beers.

Well as a result of being able to read the O2 I can say one is good and one is not good. One is very stable and other is up and down like a yo-yo. Assuming this is not normal.

I will close the exhaust first then re-check the O2.

You do realise that the one that is up and down like a yo-yo is the one that is working.

Good. That was initially my thinking the yo-yo reading was the dodgy one but then last night thinking with the exhaust pulsing the fixed O2 is potentially the dodgy one.

One O2 is fixed on 1.1V and the other travels between 0.1 - 1V

    • O2 with high voltage is running rich.
    • Still some white exhaust and liquid from the exhaust.
