No inspections here in Vic either,just a roadworthy when you first get the car. They have looked at introducing a yearly inspection but have scrapped the idea after a 2 year study as the results from NSW and other parts of the world that do this show there is no gain from this sort of system in road safety or the amount of unroadworthy vehicles on the road.

Vicroads don't often make sense, but I think they have it right on this one.

If cars are being serviced regularly then inspections are pointless, particularly with fixed price servicing plans so common on newer vehicles.
It's a different story with older dungers though. In Brisbane I see at least one one-eyed vehicle every time I drive at night. With street lights everywhere people just don't realise a bulb has blown.

When the floods were raging through central Victoria during winter I checked up on their web site to see how to get to point 'A'. Sure enough I managed to find a route where the roads were not closed so I made long detours to try get there. :D

Trouble is, those roads WERE CLOSED, when I questioned the guys at that point the reply was, "But this is a Council road, it doesn't belong to Vic Roads!":censored:

For a traveler it is still a closed road and when one has gone to the trouble of checking to see how to get somewhere it's infuriating!!!!!!:twisted:
