    D2a Factory tint

    Hey Guys,

    First post here, I've searched high and low for this info and cant find anything.
    I have just bought an 04 D2a S. I want to get it tinted but have no idea what level of tint the privacy glass is. I'm wanting to achieve 20% tint all round.

    I wonder if 35% tint on the rears will bring it to 20%

    Can anyone help me?

    wow 35% looks really good. After seeing that I think 20% tint will be way too dark. I believe there is also a slight factory tint in the front windows so 35% looks slightly darker.

    Be warned.. legally fitting 35% tint makes a D2 unroadworthy - the factory glass takes it beyond 35%

    yeah I realise that. in WA we are allowed 20% for the rears and 35% for the front. As the Disco is only used on weekends I may opt to go 20% on the fronts if it matches the rears.

    Yes. 20% total light transmission.. the glass already has a level of tint..

    So if you put 20% film on you will be around 15% D2a Factory tint

    I don't have a problem with it D2a Factory tint

    Any ideas what the factory tint is? i.e. if one wanted to remain legal, what percentage would they get in order to achieve a total of 35%?

    Getting mine done tomorrow with 35% all over. I try find out from my tint guy what he thinks the factory stuff is. if you ask me it seems to be maybe like 40 - 50% depending on the light.

    just get him to put his light meter through the glass with no tint , then holding the unapplied tint samples against the glass .
