I believe that the rotors are DBA cast and machined and all done in Australia - the rears are special order if you want them slotted. The DBA front set that I took off really had a lot of life still left in them and were looking fantastic. The rears were OE and looked grooved and spent. In comparison to the DBA, the OEs really are a poor quality rotor.

With the Yellow stuff pads I really am just so impressed. Seriously, even now every time I brake in it I think about how good the brakes are - I think the pads have a lot to do with this.

On another note, the old Greenstuff 2000 series (NOT the current crappy Greenstuff 6000 series), I really liked. You could feel them come on and stick as they warmed up while you braked and would pull up really well. These Yellowstuff pads are bang on from cold and they are very consistent in friction.

Slunnie, given that it’s now been a year and half can you provide an update? Are they still functioning as good as they’ve worn? What’s dust like? How are they off road particularly after water or mud have splashed on them?

I’m about to order new brake pads so very interested in your response.

Hi Scott, no worries.

So far I'm still reallly happy with the pads, and of the available pads that I've got experience with, these I think are still the way to go. I think inherently, the D2 doesn't have great stoppers, but in terms of what can be done from the parts bin, this setup is pretty good. Back to the Bendix pads, I've never lost them to fade like the EBC6000 Greenstuffs, but admittedly I am pretty hard on them, particularly if divebombing through traffic off Kurrajong on Bells Line of Rd. The EBC yellows have always been powerful and present leaving a lot of confidence in them always being there even when really hot. At the other end of the temperature scale, when things are cold, I havent noticed that the pads ramp up their drag when braking from cold, so they seem reasonably consistent. I'm sorry I cant add any additional information to this thread about the cold comparison with the Bendix. I don't think we get as cold as Hobart either with -5 being about as cold as we get.


The dba rotors I have a bit of experience with and they seem to be fairly high quality with respect to design and wear rate/pattern from what I can see. MY thinking is that for a 4WD that minimal slotting is the way to go, purely as a wipe but to maintain as much surface area for offroad braking. I'm not sure that outgassing is a big issue for us generally which needs more slots etc. I go through about 2 sets pads to 1 rotor generally.

For the pads, it's not my daily driver anymore and I don't consume much pad, so its a bit hard to tell for me in relation to pad wear as I dont really wear them out much. Certainly at this stage there is nothing abnormal that I've noticed when changing tyres on it (which is when I inspect the pads). I tend to look at performance more than wear and just give it pads when it needs it, but at this stage to me the wear looks pretty regular. From what I remember when I had the EBC2000 series pads, which were also a higher spec pad, the wear rate was greater and without knowing I'm also expecting these pads however to wear also a higher rate. From what i can see of EBC's advertising, they're not suggesting the EBC Yellow wear rate is higher.

For dust, the EBC6000's were pretty dustless, the EBC2000s had a little bit of dust but not too bad, the Bendix were dusty and the EBC Yellows are very dusty in my opinion. My road car has Brembo brake pads and you can see the brake dust after a week of driving to work and back (20mins for me). The EBC yellows are definately not better, probably if anything they're a bit more dusty. Even if you wash the car weekly, you'll note a fair bit of dust that you have to clean off the wheels. If you let it go, the wheels will go black

I don't recall thinking about these in the mud, so I guess no probs. I've never had brake probs that relate to mud, even when sinking the axles in the goop. Potentially that might be because of the rotors also. For the wet, same thing, the pads work as they do in the dry and they haven't done anything different to what they normally would - again, this might be because of the slotted rotors.

In a nutshell though, after using the Bendix and the EBC Yellow, if I had my time again I would import the EBC Yellows again. The one area that I have noted that they're not as good is dust.

I have a set of heavy duty DBA rotors and pads on my D2a V8 and matched with a set of Mickey Thompson ATZ P3 tyres the stopping power is awsome.
When you hit the breaks you certainly don't feel like you are trying to stop a 3t truck.

The EBC yellow averages a little over 0.5mu across its temperature range (0-900C).

I'm running pads with a Mu ranging from .54 to .57 and love them.
Pedal feel is really good and the release excellent.
There's a bit of dust, the only downside so far was the cost, (they are custom) which I'd forgotten about until I pulled the invoice out this arvo.
The ABS is working bloody hard in the dry, and I often have the inside front banging away coming into a tight corner a little fast.
Bear in mind my tyres are rock hard and only the stock diameter too.

Rick, that was you with the QFM pads? The A1RM HF40 pad? They look like they'd be a really effective material.

I'm running them with Delios rotors and Goodridge hoses.
I'm really impressed with the cold bite, that was one thing I was a little concerned with when I ordered them.

I'll be going to 30/31's in a little while so hopefully won't lose too much braking.

Asked my local brake place to get some dba's in,, none in stock,, and I mean dba dont have any....
no luck with yellow stuff either,,
they recommended, Bremtec Pro series,,

You wont get the EBC Yellows for the D2 in Aus. You have to import them, its really easy though.

Shipping is pretty quick from OS. This is where I got mine
