An advantage of the D2 over the P38A is a positive locking CDL. Having ability to both have ATB style and lockable would be good. Cheers

Stevo, I'm pretty sure I read the answer to this and it is positive, but to confirm, can the lsd you have in the centre be locked?
My understanding from reading your review is yes, it can. Please correct me if I'm wrong
Some options...
WARNING: blatant unashamed plug, take it as you will....
I'm going to guess and say your D2 has done that round typical 200K? So the centre diff will be worn, as in no preload left in it, as will the rest of the LT230 transfer case....
*Fit a Ashcroft ATB straight to your (likely worn) LT230 transfer case and forget doing anything else.
*Get the transfer case rebuilt, as I do an exchange, you will get in return a LT230 transfer case with a working centre lockable diff (you will then need a method of locking and unlocking it, Ashcroft do a kit for this).
*Get the same transfer case rebuilt, by me, but get a Ashcroft ATB fitted at the same time (same great build but you then dont need a method to lock / unlock centre diff)
*Find a used transfer case that already has a lockable centre diff. again, I do these, working as is (but you still need the ability to lock / unlock and you still have a worn transfer case)
*Offroad, the Ashcroft ATB is a set n forget, once installed thats all you need, great bit of kit, stronger than the standard centre diff, it will also "take up" as the transfer case wears.
*Offroad, a locked centre diff is as above, you just need to remember to lock it, if you are very hard core you might be able to break it, but I have my doubts.
*I currently have a extremely sweet low mileage transfer case that still has perfect pre-load, but I'm trying to sell it as a package with the auto, to sweeten the deal I might offer a lever kit with it for a bit more...
So...
What I'm actually trying to get at (more so than the self plug) is that on a Discovery 2 there are plenty of options available, its just deciding what you want to do

Daz

It doesn't surprise me really. Manual activation is cheap, easy and reliable. Cheers
