I have BFG 255.70x16 on mine and am happy with them. No touching anywhere.
just check if your rims are 7 inch or 8 inch as you should not put 245 on 8 inch rims.
Also the 255.70 is now a common size as is stock on Ranger etc so you should be able to get out of trouble in Broome, and also remember that 255.70x16 Juuust fits on the spare tyre carrier without any mods.

Yep. I'm pretty sure you are only allowed 75mm lift in total consisting of a 1" (25mm) lift in tire (equal to 2" or 50mm large diameter tire) and 2" lift in suspension.Quote:

Bigger the diameter the lower your engine revs for a given speed (in the same gear).
Engine revs too low ... engine doesn't develop as much power ... need to use more throttle ... takes longer to accelerate / get up to speed
For general driving & playing offroad the 245/75 265/70 & 265/75 seem to be good common choices ... but if your mainly towing (bigger loads) then a smaller 235/70 245/70 255/70 would be a wiser choice ... unless you get a tune for the ECU to add some extra ponies ... then the larger tyres will work ... for me (my opinion) the 265/70 I have are about the limit "with a std tune" for towing/touring (lacking occasionally) but get the job done ... my previous 255/70 would have been better but they were $75/tyre more (x5 tyres)
265/75 for towing (1.5-2t) with a std tune would imho be painful !! [wink11] You'd need to be doing 110-120km/hr or more to get the engine revs high enough to develop enough horsepower to pull the load (in 4th locked) .... or spend alot of time in 3rd locked at high engine revs at 100km/hr (maybe 2800-3000rpm). With my current 265/70 setup 90km/hr (actual) is 2000rpm.
