AFAIR yes.
Temporay fix is to just slather it with good quality sealant like permatex.
I bought a new plug and oring and it still leaked so did that about 2years ago and it is still holding.
I have some viton orings waiting for it to leak again.

I sealed both my cam plugs with roof silicone i had lying about no leaks yet, it might be a temporary/permanent fix, front is easy to get the back ones a bitch and cleaned everything with parts cleaner and i didn't put any silicone past the oring on the engine side.

Degreased my engine yesterday. Before cleaning it looks like this is where it's leaking. I'll check after I've been for a run later also. Pretty sure the previous owner put a new head on the TD5. Hopefully this sealing job isn't an example of how well the head was done. Attachment 123288

So, it was an easy fix as it turned out. 1 cam plug at $32 & some leftover Penrite ultra black gasket maker later & hopefully it's the end of that leak.

Its never ending its a Land Rover. Although my old Disco 1 was leak free for a good 6 months[biggrin]

Follow up: apparently it wasn't such a good idea to use sealer. There was a bit of talk about this on the 'what happened to ur discovery today' thread.

Guess we'll c how long it lasts for.

Mine has lasted for about 3 years or so now with a new plug slathered with Permatex (red I think) .
I have some Viton Orings and the old plug, but so far no need for them.

I cannot really see how the plug needs to flex. It has to withstand pressure from within in an oily environment, so a gasket maker like Permatex grey, or red or gold should work well and in my case so far does. Silicone would not IMHO.

I will let you know when my old plug with flat o'ring and Roof & Gutter silicone starts leaking. Any bets?
