    Front drive shaft

So when I bought me d2 got it serviced and front shaft needed replacing got a afternarket one put in but kept the old one as they said needs to be pulled apart to see if it can be rebuilt and I thought I have a crack incase I need a spare!
So question is - what is replaceable and how do tell if not worth the money

Unless the yokes are damaged/worn (and the cups won't fit/hold securely), the parts are cheap enough with your labour that it's worth doing ... but, will you ever need a spare ??

I replaced mine with a Tom Woods shaft (fully greaseable) and like the pack rat that I am I kept the old one ... it's repairable, but can't see me ever needing a spare so it can sit in the garage as it is IF I ever need another ... and rebuild it then, if & when

Good aftermarket like tom woods would be around $600. Is that in the ballpark of either shaft?
Just don't understand why they say you can't lift it

The reconditioned 1 that I bought from TRS last year came with all greasable joints/units. Hopefully if I grease it every 5000 it should last. Sure it was only 300 or so? Can't remember if I kept mine with same idea of rebuilding it if I ever need to. However, chances are that I'll be away on holidays if it ever packs it in!

Including the centring bearing assembly ?

Most of those need to be pulled apart, greased and reassembled.

The Tom Woods ones and one or two others are externally greasable.
