I have just fitted a Prodigy2 to mine i picked up the red wire signal from the trailer plug from what i read here it's not necessary as taking it from the brake light switch wont effect any computers, there is a power supply ready to plug into on the inside fuse box, do a search.
I pulled my wire harness through a spare blank firewall plug high up behind the instrument cluster [try to leave in place it's was a pain to get back in], if you only have a couple of wires you might get them through with the main harness about halfway up the firewall.
Someone here ran the blue wire to the back through a hole near the drivers seat and then along the chassis to the plug, good idea i will do this next time.

The only thing to be aware of is that the black (+ve supply) and blue (controlled +ve to brakes) are meant to be able to loads of 20A (not sure if that is peak or 100% duty) which ups the wiring requirement a bit, i.e. don't use a nasty bit of string to connect. The blue provides all the current to power the brakes.
However, I do wonder that the earth coming back on the socket doesn't look set up to provide a similar path, especially if you consider 20A brakes + ~4A brake lights + ~4A running lights....

Other recommended item is a self resetting fuse and not just a blade fuse or similar.

I have a haymen reese installed and after a decent to the Yorke pen' a few weeks back I can recommend it. We had a moment where we had to pull up *hard* because of an accident and I barely noticed the trailer (all 2 ton of it) on the back on a down hill section from about 70kph to zero. Pulled up *very* well, which was good because it was about half way through the moment I remembered we had a big lump on the back and realised I was underqualified for any corrective action

I have exactly this setup. Works well. I've put mine on the dash between the instrument hump and the RH windscreen pillar with double sided tape, tight fit. The cable runs up the windscreen channel to the back. Makes the SYNC hard to reach w/o lifting the unit but once set - it's set. Easy to reach from the s wheel. I do find I have to adjust the output depending on highway or stop start. Highway setting can be a bit fierce at the lights.
    Hope that helps,
    Pete

mine is tapped into the wire from the brake switch which is activated by the brake pedal. if u follow the brake pedal u will find the switch & wires up the arm of the pedal.

I connected the power on mine to an unused sunroof fuse on the interior fusebox with a piggyback . That fuse is 20amps.
I also fitted a manual circuit breaker between the interior fuse box and the controller just to be sure.

I earthed the brakes themselves to an unused earth point under the boot of the car on the RH side .
I have a prodigy which works very well.

    Regards Philip A
