    Radiator issue

My 2001 TD5 auto had an overheating problem... changed the thermostat... still overheating, flushed system ... still overheating... removed radiator and found that new thermostat was pink in the bottom half but clear in the top. New thermostat was not opening Replaced with another new one,low and behold ...same problem. Contacted supplier in Perth who had one left on the shelf and asked him to test it and send it to me if operating. Not working , would only open if up to temp and hit with a hammer ..not really ideal, appears they have had a bad batch.
Anyway my question is , when removing the radiator I found the top of the two small outlets below the main outlet on the right side is blanked off although there is a hose connected to it , is this correct ?

Yes, there was a supercession to the EU3 type radiator. The blanked off hose I believe goes to the fuel cooler, but maybe somebody else can clarify.

The supersession radiator bulletin says a restictor needs to be fitted on earlier models, but most don't bother . I can't find the PDF at the moment. but that should not cause your overheating, all the rads couldn't be faulty so you will have issues elsewhere.

The bottom of the two small hoses comes from the fuel cooler , it is restricted to about 2 mm . The top hose is blanked off as if it needs to be drilled out ...can't see where the hose goes to

Mark Adams has found failures in certain thermostats (brand). I got sick of Russian Roulette and went a simple inline in the top hose. Plenty of info on the threads including the one Pedro started on American Know How.

    Cheers

Saved you the effort, edited it myself didn't know a brand was anyone, best not to say anything and let people experiment themselves.

I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking
