Turned out that I've asked this before - TD5 Automatic Transmission - removing electrical connections and top oil line
For the XYZ switch:
For the transmissions connector:
Also of note:
The thread doesn't discuss the transfer cases electrical connections:
First the connectors need to be removed off the bracket on the top of the TC. Feel around, find the tab, push it and it should release.
The first one, grey connector with green wire. Was relatively easy to undo.
The other two the tabs need to be pulled up, not pushed down (which is the norm) and then they'll seperate.
The complete loom looks like:
The 'P' bracket is secured in place by a 17mm nut. I used a 17mm deep socket 1/2" with extension to loosen it and then it was wound out just by fingers.
What I couldn't figure out is how to undo the cable tie where the loom is secured to the bracket on top of the TC. You need to push the two tabs in underneath to release it and allow you to pull it out of the bracket, but given that you've got to wiggle your hand up over the handbrake assembly etc I found this impossible. After an hour I cracked it and cut the cable tie - not sure what I'll do for securing it when I refit but I'll make a plan - maybe just a normal cable tie? Even now with the loom out I still cannot get the remains of the old securing cable tie free from the bracket...
