Bought it in May had a saftey inspection done by Automasters in Armadale fixed everything bad it highlighted and did a general service left on our trip in July. Things like the exhaust ect wasn't mentioned and being unfamiliar with Disco's I didn't pick them up till they caused problems.
Safety inspection is just that - safety. Should not be confused with a reliability inspection. If it stops, steers, and doesn't leave an obvious puddle on the workshop floor, it'll generally pass.
Looks like you wasted your money at Automasters then.
The very best place to find a landrover mechanic is at a Landrover workshop, The rates are pretty much the same as anywhere else But the work done there is in a different league.
You did the right thing by getting the truck checked out before your trip But it doesn't look like the mob you entrusted the work to were up to the task.
Wyatt's in Geraldton is the Mob I use and as far as I am concerned their service and expertise is exemplary, [thumbsupbig]Quote:
To clarify I hope you mean Independent Land Rover workshop? Which is who I use, I have used dealers in the past but haven't been impressed!
Hi all made it to Darwin Saturday refitted flange gaskets Wednesday blew the trans cooler today, WTF have I done to deserve this??? I seem to recall hearing somthing about later model trannys possibly needing to have the coolers upgrading can anybody shed any light on this?
The cooler or the hoses the hoses do fail and blow off the fittings
Well thanks to workingonit comming to the rescue Sat morning and putting in a fantastic effort (those release collars were a bitch nearly 3 hours to get off!). I now know that the cooler hose hardened and split and the tranny fluid ran through the plastic sleve onto the cooler making it appear to leak from there. New ones ordered and will be confirmed shipped Monday morning hopefully.
