This is correct.
I understood your post suggested the shifter won't move to the correct position?
The limp mode does not prevent/lockout the shifter from any position, rather the selection of solenoid via ECU.

So the dash indication may not show full selection and despite limp mode, the physical shifter should select each position regardless.

Ok I already cleared out the crap and coins from the shifter ( got $15 from there) but I'll go back and recheck it anyway the shift lever on the tranny has full range of motion when I checked it and the XYZ switch. The shift lever on the console will not move past Drive.

Mechanical limp home
In the mechanical limp home mode, gear engagement is controlled by the manual valve. The gearbox is fixed in 4th gear if the fault occurs while the vehicle is moving, or 3rd gear if the fault occurs while the vehicle is stationary. 3rd gear is also engaged if a vehicle is brought to a stop and the selector lever is moved out of, and back into, D. Neutral
and reverse gear are also available.

i had this recently on a d2 disconnect the cable from the trans and move the shifter through all positions if it wont go past drive the likely culprit is the cable may have frayed you can remove the retaining clip at the shifter with a small screwdriver just don't lose the clip

Do you mean the mechanical cable linking the shift lever with the shifter arm on the tranny?

We're finally looking at buying our own Nanoscan can any one give us an idea of how long these normally take to get to the capital city's like Darwin or Perth then here in the Kimberley's? Or does anybody know of one for sale here in Australia?

Yes i had changed the xyz switch reconnected the cable and it wouldn't go past drive

i think was around a week with std postage if you contact them and have them express it should be quicker
