Wow - that's some great mixed up info you are getting there.
Superlock - this is for the doors and stops the doors from being unlocked by the interior handles. Controlled by the BCU - yes. The BCU can be superlocked - nah. Maybe they could RTFM.
BCU security features are not able to written by any tool once enabled unless unlocked by a valid RF key fob or EKA. I think the BCUs start in an insecure state and then get locked by syncing. You probably can disable this, but again only once unlocked by valid RF key fob or EKA.
Really sounds like the place to start is checking the receiver in the headlining with a known good one and checking earths/voltage as suggested. The sequence just seems like RF fob stopped working and no one knows the EKA.
I say tool, as I'd guess if you pop the lid you can write the eeprom on the BCU to get around no-fob and no-eka. I don't have any spare ecu units to test this - offtrack on here almost certainly can provide a ROM dump of an unsecured BCU to flash it with.
The BCU only has 4 states - new and unsecured, secured, unlocked and bricked![]()
Just scanning rave for something else and thought this may useful if you don't have it.
Also, check your fuses, I think there are 2 relays and 2 fuses related to immbolisation, one which appears to power the RF receiver.
The code is recorded on the security information card and is entered as follows:
1 Using the key, turn the driver's door lock to the UNLOCK position and hold in this position for at least 5 seconds.
An audible warning is then emitted to indicate that the body control unit is ready to accept the code. Return the
key to the centre position. It is now possible to use the key to enter the separate numerical values of the four
digits that make up the EKA code.
2 Enter the first digit of the code. If the first digit is 4, turn the key to the UNLOCK position 4 times. Ensure the
key is fully returned to the centre position after each turn of the key.
3 Enter the second digit of the code. If the second digit is 3, turn the key to the LOCK position 3 times. Ensure
the key is fully returned to the centre position after each turn of the key.
4 Enter the third digit of the code. If the third digit is 2, turn the key to the UNLOCK position twice. Ensure the key
is fully returned to the centre position after each turn of the key.
5 Enter the fourth digit of the code. If the fourth digit is 1, turn the key to the LOCK position once. Ensure the key
is fully returned to the centre position after each turn of the key.
6 Finally, turn the key to the UNLOCK position and back to the centre position, a double bleep will indicate that
the code has been entered correctly. A single bleep indicates that the code has been entered incorrectly.
Then, before opening the door, wait 5 minutes for the alarm and immobiliser to be de-activated. During the 5
minute wait for the alarm and immobiliser to be de-activated, the alarm indicator LED in the instrument pack
continues to flash (one flash every 2 seconds). DO NOT OPEN THE DOOR OR ATTEMPT TO ENTER THE
CAR until the full delay period has elapsed.
When the 5 minute wait has elapsed, the alarm indicator LED stops flashing. Immediately open the door, insert
the key in the ignition switch and turn the switch to position II. If the ignition switch is not turned to position II
within 30 seconds of the end of the 5 minute wait, the engine is automatically immobilised again.
The EKA code will not be recognised if there is an interval of 10 seconds or more between key turns or if the key is
held turned for 5 seconds or more during the procedure.
In some system configurations a successful EKA code entry is indicated by the audible warning device pulsing twice
for a period of 50 ms on, 200 ms off. The theft deterrent LED is switched on for 1 second, all doors unlock, the alarm
disarms and the vehicle is remobilised allowing the engine to start.
If an incorrect code is entered, an audible warning is emitted and the procedure must be repeated. Up to a maximum
of 10 attempts to enter the code is possible. After 10 attempts, the BCU will not allow any further codes to be entered
for a period of 10 minutes.
With my 2003 TD5 there is definitely no 5 minute wait period needed. So after following a successful EKA key procedure you can unlock and start the car immediately even though my owners hanbook says you need to wait 5 mins. This works with any non Landrover key too - ie just a normal key blank cut by any locksmith with NO fob, so I keep one cut in my wallet!

Yes, if your lucky with the EKA entry then the instructions leave you at position II.
Is it:-
a) so the BCU and ECU can have a little chat?
b) to give you time to reflect on your situation (on whether you should push over that first dune into the desert; and on the confidence you originally had in the vehicle as to go solo?). You go home.
c) You haven't actually left your garage to commence your holiday, and gives you the nanosecond required to decide to go and buy a Toyota, NOW!
d) that LRover really can't guarantee there is not another problem waiting, but you'll soon find out when you move from position II to start the vehicle? If there is another problem, the instructions start "Carrying on from position II we now resolve this next problem by..."
Some stubborn owners might need the full five minutes to think things over. The quick of mind can just go straight to position II for a quick think and if they're a risk taker even chance an immediate start.
Thought I'd actually give my EKA code a go and report on LED status and anything I (think) observed.
Single beep to indicate start of entry.
I think I saw the LED flash on each number entry
Single beep at end if failed, double beep if success.
LED Off if success.
LED solid on if no valid key.
BCU open and talkable to once EKA unlocked.
I didn't wait the 5 mins.
Car did start with fobless key and didn't stop, so EKA does do (as expected/hoped) full unlock suitable for spare/broken key.
Oddity, didn't respond to RF unlock until locked with RF afterwards.
Thanks for the info Steve. Just tried as you have. Got the first beep, but no red LED. Entered the numbers, but no red LED. Got one beep at end for failure, but no red LED. Did this with both the original dealer code and the code obtained via VIN.
