Gday Ian,
from memory it's only the lights in the bumper that are different. The D2a has the reverse lights in the bumper.
cheers Ean
Is there any difference in rear bumpers between the two versions?
Somebody ran into the back of me yesterday, taking out the bumper and right hand light.
Until then, the car was pristine, the closest it had ever been to a panel shop was driving past.

If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

And since they ran into the back of you they are at fault, so let the insurance pay for your new bumper, or ask for a cash settlement form insurance and fit a steel one.![]()
What they said , they are the same , steel bumper is a good upgrade especially if it happens again ( hope not)
It really was just a minor bump, we're trying to keep the insurance companies out of it.
Mario, the links you sent to me are for a D1 bar, no doubt it will fit but, how neatly; then there's the issue of needing two of those crappy D1 lights. Proper D2 steel bars are well over a grand and are still a dodgey blend and it's unfair to ask the other party to pay that when I can repair it for under $400.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.
I had to replace the rear bumper on my old D2 due to it cracking up as it was brittle and sun damaged.
I got a new one from Ford, the Land Rover dealer up here in Cairns for $480. I don't think it was any special deal or anything, so why not just replace it with new. Probably cheaper than your insurance excess.

here is the bars fitted I was talking about. As for keeping insurance out of it, I got hit in rear on my D2, I did not pay any excess as the other driver rear ended me, his fault period, I had my bumper replaced with brand new and they chased the other party, so I had to do nothing ( Shannons) if you are an innocent party go the insurance is my thoughts. Even if the other driver has no insurance they still will cover you.
Cheers, Mario

In so many ways a good steel rear is better. Around $650 and fit at home. Cheers![]()

I just fitted one of those and some rock sliders from APT. Ben was great to deal with and quick freight to perth.
The rear bar was very easy to fit, maybe 1hr for removal and reinstallation.
Quality and fitment is great. Everything lines up exactly and is very well finished.
No need to worry now when I stand on the rear bar to get stuff on and off the roof racks.
