    D1 V8 R380 into TD5

    Hi all,

    Apart from the bell housing and 5th gear ratio, anyone know if there is any problem doing this? i have a 97 D1 V8 i'm wrecking and i'd like to use the gearbox as its in better nick than mine!

    Any advice appreciated.

    Input shaft incorrect length, and custom spigot bushing req. Also D1 trans is weaker.

    Can you replace the input shaft with a TD5 one?

    Not as simple as you put it
    And why would go to that effort when you can just get a Td5 box

    What JC said.
    The TD5 suffix L 'box is a lot stronger than the early 'J' 'box.
