    Radiator overflow spigot repair

    Take 3!!

Plastic welded a 12mm nylon cable glade into spigot hole, here's hoping this repair works!!

I searched the net looking for repair methods for radiators and plastic welding and found info stating the plastic tanks were a mixture of nylon and fillers/additives but the main component was apparently nylon??
And a few site used nylon filler rods for the repair.

    Parts used

1- 12mm nylon electrical cable gland - cut top section off the leave just the 12mm tread and nut section tapped in the centre with a 1/8 NPT tap to accept the hose bard

2- Drill and tap a 12mm hole in place of the snapped off spigot

3- screw in modified cable gland

3- using a nylon cable tie and plastic welder if you have one (I used a large soldering iron) melt a grove around the interface between radiator and nut while filling in with the melted cable tie

4- continue to work the molten plastic mixing both layers then smooth out to a nice flat finish

    Hoping it works!!

I used this stuff to repair my plastic headlight mounting ( Thanks to a "Heads up" Here) and it is bloody brilliant, If your plastic welding fails give this stuff a whirl

    Thanks for the link!

If this repair fails I'll be getting a new radiator!!

All turned to poop after this!
Refilled and bleed then had a leak from the bleed screw as it's been doggy for awhile! Removed bleed screw and jammed a plug in while I got some sealant then found the whole inner part of the bleed screw had broken away and fallen inside the top hose!!!!!!

Well the whole cooling system is apart looking for the bloody screw, found it up near the thermostat. What a PITA!!!!

Then thought while I had the hoses off I'd have a crack at removing the EGR cooler and pipe work that went ok but found the wiring for the oil pressure slightly melted, never ends!!!
While pulling this apart I found the earth broken off.
Any ideas where it's suppose to connect???

So up for a new top hose end caps for the oil cooler and bottom of expansion tank, some coolant and find earth point

    Cheers Lemo
