So it's meaning is as simple as it sounds, and the hex symbol used to indicate that it's where the earth point is taken from.

If you look at the diagram for the brake fluid level above it, it's earth terminates at connector C0018 and at port 8 of that connector block. And of course the same hex symbol used for that earth header/connector used to indicate that the earthing point for that earth connector is the connector itself(at the body).
That probably should have been "at least one other reference" as I'd only done a quick search in the electrical library.
