There is definitely a lack of comprehensive instructions with a nanocom. I was also frustrated that there was nobody to speak directly to at the supplier. Everything done over a keyboard for any communication. A lot of people can't type very well so it makes for slow, tedious communication.

    Regards,

    Jason

BTW if your planning on using it regularly as an instrument, highly reccomend a switched OBD2 cable.... Ive got this one and it works great as an extension cable between the OBD2 port and the nanocom cable

    So, I'm easily confused.
For the system that turns on the Nanocom with the ignition, are the extra bits wired into the ignition, between ignition and OBD2 port, or between OBD2 port and EVO?
    Cheers Gavin

The nanocom doesnt switch on or off with the ignition, its always on, but will go to sleep after the ignition is turned off, and will only power up when the power is cycled by disconnecting the obd2 cable...DONT DISCONNECT THE DSUB CONNECTOR END.
Alternately by putting a switched obd2 cable between the obd2 port and the nanocom cable you can cycle power without disconnecting

Thanks. It was the last sentence I needed. Re 1st sentence, to quote my grandson "I already knew that".

Is it a switched cable you are trying to sort?

So, if I show the relay doc to my auto elec, will he be able to sort it?

You know if you press your finger on the screen for 3 seconds it powers on?

I thought you wanted to manually power off, not power on. I'm tempted to make a cable to relay the power via ACC/Ign so that it goes straight off and more helpfully, turns on each engine start.

Oh and, not being shirty, but email comms with blackbox might be easier really. You'd need to phone Cyprus time and may need a good grasp of the language, I'd guess that's why they prefer written comms.

Yep, that's how I turn it on now. Just getting lazy in my old age. I always turn mine on in instrument mode, but it's just that much easier if its automatic on startup.

I'm assuming the go to sleep function after switching off (which works fine on mine) will still apply/not be lost with this mod????
