Slightly off topic, but did ALL rover v8s have hardened valve seats? If so, running an upper cylinder lubricant is not necessary? Does this extend to the p76 v8 as well?
Cheers,
Chris

Mate I have a feeling it's the unlead motors only ...but not sure where that fact lodged into my mind from..
Cheers
I've only seen one P76 burn a valve on LPG and that was a 600K old car in terrible condition, it actually suffered from too much oil caking up the valves. My wife's old P76 did 420K on one engine and the valves showed very little wear without any added upper cylinder lube. The valves were clearly marked "Rover" so I expect the hardened seats were too.
Nice mate. The Rover V8 seems to run LPG well. Wonder how many kilometres on Pedro's LPG 4.6 now? Cheers
I've owned two V8 Land Rovers and my engines never looked like that, they were surprisingly clean, I used Penrite oils.
An educated guess?
maybe 25K? though most of that would have been on stuck O2's [bigwhistle]
It is running perfectly ATM,,, [bighmmm][bighmmm][bighmmm][biggrin]
goes very well on LPG.
