    Discovery 2 Front Pinion Seal Leaking!!!!

    Hi, just got my front diff rebuilt and an new flange and seal put in but an reputable company and now it leaks only after an day of driving, what would be the cause of this? I checked the front diff breather and it's good

    The cause is the rebuild wasn't done properly.
    If they are a reputable company they will apologetically rectify as soon as possible.

    Ok it will be an PITA to take the front diff off again and take it back, but thanks for the help, I'll call tomorrow

    They should be able to sort this out without taking the diff out of the truck.

    Are you sure it's the pinion seal that is leaking ? A potential leak point is where the pinion drive flange nut/bolt pulls up. Oil can work its way up the spline and out from under the nut. I would expect a knowledgeable diff re builder to be aware of this and assemble with a healthy dollop of silicon under the nut before doing it up.

    Well its leaking from around the pinion seal and running down the diff,

    Definitely take it back, either there is a problem with the seal or the Pre load.

    It could be that the housing surface is not flush and has an mark or gouge in it, which i have seen before and on my brothers discovery but don't know if you can fill it up and make an sealed surface.
